CULTURAL AWARENESS

Our Commitment to Cultural Awareness

Telegraph Road Clinic acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and live and recognises their continuing connection to land, waters, and community. We pay our respect to them and their cultures, and to Elders both past and present.

Australia is a diverse and multicultural nation, and here at Telegraph Road clinic we strive to be understanding of the differences that accompany this diversity. We demonstrate cultural awareness by understanding various histories, peoples and cultures, and recognize that our treatment must be adapted to suit these cross-cultural situations. The health practitioners have considered the power relations, cultural differences and patient expectations and needs, and incorporate these factors into their treatments.

In addition, we offer 715 Health Checks for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The 715 is an overall check of your health completed with you by a nurse and reviewed by your GP. It includes a review of general health, eyesight, hearing, blood tests, social & emotional wellbeing, medications and immunization status. They can also help you access allied health services.

Patients of any age can complete a 715 appointment every 12 months. They are entirely bulk-billed and take around 45 minutes.
